Lemurs’ Park:A Free-Roaming Lemur Sanctuary Just Outside Antananarivo

Just 25 kilometers from the heart of Antananarivo—along RN1 toward Imeritsiatosika—Lemurs’ Park offers an immersive wildlife experience far beyond the traditional zoo. Set within a lush 5-hectare botanical garden, gently bordered by the Katsaoka River, this private reserve invites lemurs to roam completely free. No cages. No enclosures. Just nature.

✨ Park Highlights

  • Lemurs, Guaranteed. Here, you are sure to see lemurs. Each lemur claims its own territory, allowing you to observe these enchanting primates up close—curious, agile, and wonderfully at ease in their natural habitat.
  • A Window into Madagascar’s Biodiversity. The park is home to seven species of lemurs from different regions of Madagascar, alongside other emblematic species of Malagasy fauna and flora—including chameleons, native birds, and rare endemic plants.
  • 19 Years of Reforestation & Stewardship. Lemur Park is more than a sanctuary. As a privately owned company (SARL), it has carried out a 19-year-long reforestation program, planting native trees to restore the ecosystem and protect the island’s unique natural heritage.
  • Releasing Since 2015. Since 2015, the park has successfully run a reintroduction program, releasing park-born lemurs back into their native wild habitats. Your visit supports this ongoing conservation mission.
  • A Riverside Botanical Escape. Winding along the Katsaoka River, the park offers a serene setting for a nature walk. Lush greenery, fresh air, and sweeping views of the Malagasy countryside make this a true escape from the city.
